POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—No 3 Vassar College (2-0) defeated the SUNY Potsdam Men's Volleyball team (3-6) 3-0 in both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. They took opener 15-12, 25-14, and 25-14 and the finale 25-8, 27-25, 25-14.
In game one, sophomore middle hitter
Jason Hendler (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) had four kills for the Bears. Junior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga N.Y/Cheektowaga) racked up two kills, six assists and three digs, while senior outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Grand Island N.Y/Grand Island) added two kills, one ace and four digs against the Brewers.
For Vassar, Andrew Kim got a match high of eight kills, one ace, two blocks, three assists and three digs against the Bears. Adam Gulick racked up eight kills, and two blocks. Jacob Kim was credited for 25 assists.
In game two, Rogers racked up five kills and five assists for Potsdam. Sophomore
Tom Shemik (Grand Island N.Y/Grand Island) also had five kills, one block and four digs during the match. Sophomore setter
Michael Anderson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) was credited for four kills and seven assists, while Hendler (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) had five digs.
For the Brewers ,Vaughn Ramsey had a match-high 16 kills along with three blocks and five digs. Joe Hendrickson had six kills and one block during the second match. AJ Erickson was credited for 23 assists and Jorge Adams racked up 10 digs.
Potsdam men's volleyball is back in action February 5, at 11 a.m. when they head to Wilkes College.
