Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Michael LaShomb, Athletic Communications Assistant

Bears sweep Route 11 rivals 3-0

CANTON, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (11-10) rolled past SUNY Canton (6-13) 3-0 at the Roo House on Wednesday evening. Senior outside hitter Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) had a game-high 11 kills while senior outside hitter Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) recorded 10 kills and 12 digs to compliment her teammate.
 
Junior outside hitter Sophia Rowny (Glenville, N.Y./Burnt-Hills – Ballston Lake) contributed nine kills and three digs for the Bears. Sophomore middle hitter Santara Hart (Meridian, Idaho/Meridian) and junior setter Kendall Jones (Parker, Colo./Elizabeth) each recorded three kills apiece.  Senior setter Colleen Murphy (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) posted a well-balanced stat-line with a game-high 23 assists, six digs, and five service aces. Freshman setter Sophia Layer (Winthrop, N.Y./Potsdam) chipped in 12 assists.  Senior outside hitter Abygail Olejnik (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield) had a game-high 21 digs in tonight's contest. Senior outside hitter Mackenzie Fischer (Cottekill, N.Y./Rondout Valley) and sophomore outside hitter Marissa Wagoner (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) added four and three digs, respectively.
 
Cassidy Werner led the Roos with a team-high eight kills. Alyssa Adams contributed seven kills and two digs. Both Sara Balcom and Alexas Marshall rounded out the offensive effort with three kills each. Michaella DeCapua recorded a team-high 12 assists with two services aces. Kaylee Clark posted 19 digs, five assists, and two service aces. Bailey Nadeau and Bethanie Gratton had seven and six digs, respectively.
 
The Bears are back in action on Friday when they host Plattsburgh State at 6 p.m. at the Maxcy Field House.
