FREDONIA, N.Y.—Fredonia (2-7-3, 1-4-2 SUNYAC) scored three second half goals to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (4-4-4, 0-3-3) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper
Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) made a career-high 11 saves.
The teams combined for seven scoring chances in the first half, but neither could solve the goalkeepers. Schiel stopped four shots in the opening 45 minutes and Blue Devils keeper William Richardson made three saves. The contest remained scoreless at the half.
The Blue Devils got on the board just 9:47 into the second half. Jacob Vallus scored on a shot at the lower left post on an assist from Robert Aboagye. Just over 20 minutes later, Chance Lacroix made it a 2-0, burying a feed from Parker Ange. Aboaye then closed the scoring at 81:34.
Williamson made nine saves to earn the shutout victory. Fredonia outshot the Bears 17-15, but Potsdam finished with an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bears travel to Morrisville State on Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. nonconference contest.
