No. 17 Oswego State overpowers Potsdam

OSWEGO, N.Y.—No. 17 Oswego State (19-1, 13-0 SUNYAC) used a strong start to pull away from the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (9-8, 7-5) for an 85-58 win on Friday evening. Sophomore forward Ahamadou Sillah (Bronx, N.Y./Kipp NYC College Prep) led the Bears with 10 points and freshman forward Parker Kelly (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) had nine points.

Potsdam hung with the Lakers for the first 10 minutes of the game. A 3-point play from Sillah at 10:12 kept the Bears within in 22-19. However, Oswego caught fire and closed the half on a 28-6 run go take over the game. The Lakers shot an impressive 50-percent from the floor (21-42) in the first 20 minutes. Potsdam nearly matched the Lakers point-for-point in the second half, but couldn't make up any ground.

Devin Green led Oswego with 15 points, four assists and five rebounds. Ahkee Anderson had 14 points and five boards. Jeremiah Sparks finished with 12 points and Christian Simmons contributed 11 points.

The Bears look to rebound tomorrow afternoon at SUNY Cortland when they face the Red Dragons at 4 p.m.
