POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (7-1) earned their fifth consecutive victory over St. Lawrence University (1-7). The Bears trumped the
Saints 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19).
Senior outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) recorded team-highs in kills and digs with 13 and 19, respectively. Junior outside hitter
Sophia Rowny (Glenville, N.Y./Burnt-Hills Ballston Lake) complimented her teammate with 12 kills and four digs of her own. Senior outside hitter
Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) had six kills and two digs. Sophomore middle hitter
Santara Hart (Meridian, Idaho/Meridian) added six more kills and one dig. Senior setter
Colleen Murphy (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) contributed a contest-high 20 assists with 15 digs while freshman setter
Sophia Layer (Winthrop, N.Y./Potsdam) recorded 17 more assists.
Junior outside hitter Vivian Zymeck (Millwood, N.Y./Horace Greeley) led the Saints with eight kills and 10 digs on the night. Freshman defensive specialist Maggie Layman (Henderson, Penn./Henderson High School) recorded a contest-high 25 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Rachel Boudreau (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) totaled seven kills and freshman defensive specialist Lainey Roman (Bethlehem, Penn./Freedom High School) contributed an additional seven kills along with 18 digs. Freshman setter Lily Snide (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh Senior High School) ended the contest with a match-high 23 assists.
This is Potsdam's first win against St. Lawrence since 2016, ending a nine-game losing streak against the Saints.
Potsdam will resume action on Saturday at 11 a.m. when they travel to play Roger Williams in Bristol, R.I.
