CORTLAND, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (8-3, 0-1) fell to SUNY Cortland (8-3, 2-0) Friday evening. The Red Dragons took the contest 3-0 (1-25, 16-25, 16-25).
Senior outside hitter
Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) posted a team-high six kills with two digs. Senior outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) recorded four kills and a team-high nine digs. Junior outside hitter
Sophia Rowny (Glenville, N.Y./Burnt-Hills Ballston Lake) added two kills and six digs. Senior setter
Colleen Murphy (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) handed out 10 assists while teammate
Sophia Layer (Winthrop, N.Y./Potsdam) contributed three more assists and one service ace. Sophomore middle hitter
Santara Hart (Meridian, Idaho/Meridian), sophomore middle hitter
Marissa Wagoner (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), and senior outside hitter
Abygail Olejnik (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield) each had one kill a piece.
Zoe Staats posted 8 kills, two digs, and four blocks for the Red Dragons. Julia Pugliese complimented her teammate with seven kills and eight digs. Catrina Mangogna had seven kills. Alexa Guedez had five kills while Emma Reilly had five kills with five blocks. Megan McMahon totaled 19 assists while Meadow Wittman added 16 assists. Allie Sturgess recorded nine service aces to round out the scoring effort for the Red Dragons.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. when they visit Oswego State.
