Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Brockport edges Bears, 1-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The College at Brockport (2-4-2, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) scored a first half goal and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (4-6, 0-3) on Saturday afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper Rylee Semco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) finished with five saves for the Bears.

The teams battled evenly for much of the first half, but the Golden Eagles slowly gained the upper hand. After swapping chances, Brockport took the lead at 37:14. Freshman forward Lucy Crounse (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) buried a cross at the right post from senior midfielder Julia Mascaro (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Starpoint). Semco made three saves in the first half and Golden Eagles graduate student goalie Kayla Usborne (Knoxboro, N.Y./Madison) had two stops as Brockport took the one-goal lead into the break.

The second half was more tightly contested with the defenses clamping down. Each team managed just two shots on goal with Semco and Usborne foiling each attempt. Brockport managed to generate five corner kicks in the second half, but Potsdam's defenders prevented many dangerous chances off of them.

Usborne finished with four saves for the shutout.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Plattsburgh State for a 4 p.m. contest.
