Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bears tame Wolves on the road, 4-1

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (2-0) scored three unanswered goals to defeat Keuka College (0-2) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Gabriel Lizana (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) scored the first two goals of his career and sophomore midfielder Zach Cunningham (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) recorded his first two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Evan Jacobs (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) made three saves to earn his second career victory.

Freshman forward Anderson Velasquez (Bronx, N.Y./Marble Hill) got the Bears on the board first with his first collegiate goal at 13:35. The Wolves countered just over 13 minutes later as Evan Pellerito tied the game. At the 34:14 mark, sophomore forward Justin Mossey (Amity Harbor, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) set up Lizana's first of the game for the eventual game-winner. The Bears dominated the first half, outshooting Keuka 12-3 and led 2-1 at the break.

Cunningham set up Lizana's second marker just 53 seconds into the second half to extend Potsdam's lead to 3-1. At 53:49, Cunningham then assisted on sophomore midfielder Owen Santos' (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) second goal in as many games, to close the scoring at 4-1. The Bears controlled the play for the rest of the game and ran out the clock on the Wolves.

Carson Smith made six saves for Keuka. Potsdam junior goalkeeper Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) didn't face a shot in the last 15:35 in his Bears debut after relieving Jacobs.

Potsdam outshot Keuka 17-4 on the day, but the Wolves finished with a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bears are back in action next Saturday when they head to Long Island to take on St. Joseph's University.
