POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (1-6, 0-0 NECC) fell to both No. 5 Vassar College (2-1) and St. Joseph's College- Long Island (2-3) by 3-0 scores Saturday afternoon.
Vassar took the opener in straight sets (25-8, 25-12, 25-14). Freshman outside hitter
Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) led the Bears with five kills. Senior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) posted one kill, three blocks and three digs. Graduate student setter
Cooper Colesante (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) had six assists against the Brewers.
Junior outside hitter Vaughn Ramsey (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) had a match-high of 11 kills. Junior Setter Jacob Kim (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) had 17 assists and Senior Libero Jorge Adams Reyes (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/ The Tasis School in Dorado) contributed six digs against the Bears.
St. Joseph's College took the finale with sets of 34-32, 25-13 and 25-20. Rogers had a team-high of 14 kills and two blocks for the Bears. Colesante had 27 assists and three aces for the Bears, while Tenhagen had a match-high of 13 digs.
For e Golden Eagles, senior outside hitter Tyler Anderson (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) had a match-high of 15 kills, one ace, four blocks and 10 digs. Junior setter C.J. Johnson (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) had a match-high of 42 assists. Junior libero Mark Williams (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) collected 12 digs during the match.
The Bears will be on the road again next Friday, February 3, when they head to Elms College. The time is to be announced.
