Golden Knights blank Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Clarkson University (8-4-2) scored five times in the second half to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (3-8-2) 6-0 on Tuesday night.
 
The Golden Knights were able to sustain pressure from the outset in the first half. Potsdam senior captain Savannah Bowie (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville made six saves to keep the contest tight, but Clarkson broke through just 12 seconds before the half after being a awarded a penalty kick. Junior forward Chloe Hodge (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) sent the Knights into the half up one.
 
Clarkson exploded for three goals in the first 12:36 of the second half. Senior forward Rylee Marin (North Scituate, R.I./St. Mary Academy Bayview) doubled the lead at 51:57. Just 27 seconds later sophomore midfielder Lillian Gillett (Irondequoit, N.Y./West Irondequoit) made it a 3-0 contest. At 57:36, senior defender Arin Bates (West Wardsboro, Vt./Leland and Gray Union) converted on another penalty kick opportunity. Clarkson added a fifth goal at 73:08 as junior midfielder Emily Davis (Westminster, Md./Westminster) found the lower left corner. Junior midfielder Haley Archambault (Uxbridge, Mass./Uxbridge) closed the scoring at 6-0 with a marker at 79:17.
 
Bowie matched a career-high with 13 saves. Junior Molly DiCaprio (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) earned the win after playing the first 60 minutes. Senior Ava Pushor (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) preserved the shutout in the final 30 minutes.
 
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Brockport for a 1 p.m. match.
