Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Buffalo State edges Bears on the road, 2-1

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State (7-2-, 3-2 SUNYAC) scored twice in the first half and held on for a 2-1 win over the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (3-7-1, 0-6) on Saturday afternoon. Senior captain Luke Clark (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) scored for the Bears.

Aladin Ali put the Bengals up for good at the 13:32 mark with an assist from Yousif Kowa. Buffalo State continued to press after the goal. At 38:07, Kowa made it a 2-0 contest with a helper from Ali Mohamed. The score was unchanged at the break.

The Bengals didn't let up in the second half. However, Bears senior goalie Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) kept his team in the game with four saves. With just 11:46 remaining, junior forward Justin Mossey (Amity Harbor, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) connected with Clark to get Potsdam within 2-1. Buffalo State clamped down the rest of the way to close out the one-goal victory.

Schiel finished with five saves and Bengals goalie Shae Wirt stopped one shot for the win.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, when they host No. 4 SUNY Oneonta at noon.
