Luke Clark (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) scored for the Bears.
Aladin Ali put the Bengals up for good at the 13:32 mark with an assist from Yousif Kowa. Buffalo State continued to press after the goal. At 38:07, Kowa made it a 2-0 contest with a helper from Ali Mohamed. The score was unchanged at the break.
The Bengals didn't let up in the second half. However, Bears senior goalie
Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) kept his team in the game with four saves. With just 11:46 remaining, junior forward
Justin Mossey (Amity Harbor, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) connected with Clark to get Potsdam within 2-1. Buffalo State clamped down the rest of the way to close out the one-goal victory.
Schiel finished with five saves and Bengals goalie Shae Wirt stopped one shot for the win.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, when they host No. 4 SUNY Oneonta at noon.
