JOHNSON, VT. – The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (12-11, 2-1 NECC) handled conference rival NVU Johnson (8-4, 0-3 NECC) on the road in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-18) to capture their third consecutive victory.
Graduate student outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) paced the Bears with a game-high nine kills, six digs, and one ace. Sophomore middle hitter
Matt Kilinski (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) recorded seven kills to compliment his teammate, along with three digs and one ace. Senior opposite
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) tallied five kills and junior middle hitter
Jason Hendler (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) posted three kills to round out Potsdam's offense. Junior outside hitter
Tom Shemik (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led the Bears on defense with nine digs. Graduate student setter
Cooper Colesante (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) had 12 assists and six digs while graduate student setter
Alec Roy (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) added seven assists, four digs, and two aces. Junior libero
Fernando Perez (Azusa, Calif./Azusa) and junior outside hitter
Sam Day (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) each contributed two aces for the Bears.
Freshman outside hitter Luke Walters and freshman middle blocker Bar Suster led the Badgers with five kills and five digs each. Freshman middle hitter Sam Munson followed closely with four kills. Junior setter Eli Harden registered nine assists and senior outside hitter Dominic Phelps recorded a solo block to round out the leaders.
The Bears are set to take the court again next Saturday, March 25 when they face Russell Sage at 12 p.m. and second-ranked Springfield College at 2 p.m. The following day, Potsdam will face Bard College at 11 a.m. and John Jay College at 1 p.m.
