POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Fredonia (6-9, 1-6 SUNYAC) used early and late runs to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (2-10, 0-7) 19-11 on Saturday afternoon. Senior attack
Anita Reitano (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) led the Bears with seven points on three goals and four assists. Sophomore attack
Mallory Marks (Brownville, N.Y./General Brown) scored a career-high four goals and had a personal-best 12 draw controls.
The Bears scored four of the contest's first six goals. Reitano tied the game at 1-1 at 11:33 and then set up Marks' first goal at 10:12 for a 2-1 lead. Junior captain
Lindsey LaDue (Massena, N.Y./Massena) the scored the next two, the second coming on a helper from Reitano and Potsdam was up 4-2 at 7:46. Unfortunately, the Blue Devils scored the next seven in a row to take the lead for good. Fredonia senior attack Erin Woods (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) had two goals and two assists during the run. The Blue Devils led 9-4 after 15 minutes.
Reitano scored her second at 12:33 of the second quarter. After an answer from Fredonia freshman attack Cailin Karalus (Eden, N.Y./Eden), Reitano set up Marks again to make it 10-6 at 8:33. Woods countered at 7:31, but Marks buried her third at 3:52 with a helper from sophomore midfielder
Mia Martin (Six Nations, Ontario/McKinnon Park Secondary). Potsdam trailed 11-7 at the break.
Fredonia senior attack Julie Culver (Irondequoit, N.Y./Irondequoit) made it a 12-7 contest with a goal 1:05 into the third quarter. The Bears then put together a final surge through much of third quarter. Reitano completed her hat trick at 11:48 and then fed Marks for her fourth goal 28 seconds later to make it 12-9. After a goal from Blue Devils sophomore midfielder Audrey Brown (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) at 5:52, Martin scored the next two. Potsdam was down just 13-11 with 1:27 left in the third. Fredonia then sealed the win with the last six goals of the game to extinguish Potsdam's comeback. Woods had another two goals and an assist during the stretch.

Jane Olszewski (Thornwood, N.Y./Westlake) allowed 12 goals and made four saves in the first and third quarters. Fellow freshman
Olivia Minarich (Albany, N.Y./Albany) stopped nine shots and allowed seven goals in the second and fourth quarters. Fredonia senior keeper Emily Carr (Conesus, N.Y./Livonia) made 13 saves to pick up the win.
Woods led all scorers with 10 points on six goals and four assists. Junior midfielder Sydney Buchko (Macedon, N.Y./Gananda) finished with six points on three goals and three assists.
Reitano's seven-point performance gives her sole possession of fourth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 167 points on 104 goals and 63 assists. She's just two points behind Hall of Famer Alisha Schaad-Waite '08 for third place. Reitano also ranks fifth in goals and third in assists.
