Tyler Gould (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) scored with 1:03 left in the first overtime to give the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (7-7, 1-5 SUNYAC) an 11-10 victory over Plattsburgh State (2-12, 0-6) on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore attackman
Owen Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) led the Bears with four points on two goals and two assists and Gould was right behind with a career-high three goals and sophomore midfielder
Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) scored twice.
After the Cardinals opened the scoring 1:14 into the contest,
Owen Walsh evened the game at 13:08. The Bears then scored three of the final four goals of the first quarter. Gould tied the game at 2-2 at 7:13 with an assist from senior captain
Ayden LaFave (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River).

Bryce Tyler (Camden, Maine/Camden Hills) gave Potsdam its first lead 14 seconds later.
Plattsburgh scored twice to open the second quarter, but the Bears answered with four of the next five goals. Freshman attackman
Crayton Cree (Hogansburg, N.Y./Salmon River) scored his first career goal at 6:43 to tie the game at 5-5. Junior attackman
Cobie Cree (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) followed to put the Bears up just 36 seconds later. Rose made it 7-5 at 4:36. After another Plattsburgh goal, Rose struck again with 2:05 left, and Potsdam took an 8-6 lead into the break.
The third quarter saw just three goals scored. Senior forward
Peyton Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) gave the Bears a 9-7 lead with 59 seconds remaining. Plattsburgh struck with 18 seconds left and Potsdam was up just one after 45 minutes.
Gould gave Potsdam a 10-8 advantage at 9:37 of the fourth quarter. However, two goals in a 14-second span of the final minute got Plattsburgh even at 10-10 with 40 seconds on the clock and sent the contest to overtime.
Plattsburgh took the first shot of the overtime, but Bears freshman goalie
Saka Thompson (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) made the save. 1:01 later, Gould completed his hat trick with the game-winner.
Thompson finished with a career-high 19 saves to earn his second career victory. Dan Clements made 11 stops for the Cardinals.
Potsdam got another sterling effort from freshman
Drew Costello (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) in the faceoff circle, winning 13 of his 16 opportunities and claiming nine ground balls. Fellow freshman faceoff specialist
Talon Thompson (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) was also solid with five wins in nine chances. Sophomore defender
Ben Welch (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) had a game-high five caused turnovers.
Mike Walsh led the Cardinals offensively with four points on two goals and two assists. Owen Lorenzetti and Gustav Rugg each contributed a goal and an assist.
The Bears wrap up the season on Saturday, when they host Oswego State at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
