Prior to the contest, Potsdam donned orange t-shirts (see picture above) to promote awareness for those who were victimized by the Indian residential school systems within Canada and the United States. A pregame statement from the team said "it also creates as an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools and their legacy. The orange shirts represent Phyllis Webstad, a residential school survivor, who wore a an orange shirt her grandmother had gotten her for her first day of school. She wore her shirt proudly. After arriving at the church-run school, she had her orange shirt taken away and her hair cut. Now we wear orange shirts to acknowledge the intergenerational impact that is still felt through communities today. It honors the experiences indigenous people went through and celebrates their resilience and affirms a commitment that every child matters."

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to SUNY Oneonta for a 4 p.m. contest.
