Zach Cunningham (Dix Hills, N.Y. Half Hollow Hills East) scored for the Bears.
Alex Lessman opened the scoring for Cortland at 8:13. Just over six minutes later, Jack Coleman made it a 2-0 contest. At 20:50, Matt Schultz extended the lead to 4-0. Coleman notched his second of the game with a marker at 29:33. The score remained the same at the break.
Cunninham got the Bears on the board just 31 seconds into the second half, with an assist from senior forward
Austin Hutchins (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. Oriskany Falls) . However, Cortland halted Potsdam's momentum with a fifth goal from Riley Williams at 48:18. Josh Carroll added a sixth and final goal at 80:39.
Bears sophomore goalie
Ian Schwartz (Amsterdam, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth) finished with nine saves and five goals allowed in the first 77:44. Freshman
Sam Allen (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) allowed a goal and made two stops in the last 12:16. Red Dragons starting goalie Jordan Ott earned the win without facing a shot in the first half. Will Stanley played the next 22:27, allowing a goal. Jon Bovair made a save in the last 22:32.
The Bears are back home Saturday, when they host Fredonia at 1 p.m.
