The Soaring Eagles took sets one and two by 25-17 and 25-23 scores before Potsdam rallied for a 25-23 win in set three. Elmira then closed out the match with a 25-20 win in set four. Sophomore outside hitter
Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) had nine kills and five digs. Graduate student opposite
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) registered five kills, nine digs and two assists. Senior captain
Michael Anderson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) finished with 16 assists, while freshman setter
Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) added 12. Senior outside hitter
Tom Shemik (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) contributed eight digs, while senior middle hitter
Sean Murray (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) and freshman outside hitter Darius Dorsey- Rhule (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) had four and three blocks, respectively.
Edwin Sosa led Elmira with 22 kills, three assists, two blocks and an ace. Gabriel Staron had 12 kills and an ace. Luke Jata posted 10 kills four aces and seven digs. Max Cohen had 45 assists and seven digs.
The Bears square off with Thiel College in the teams' first ever meeting at Elmira tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
