BUFFALO, N.Y.—Four different Bears scored as the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (8-9, 4-7 SUNYAC) defeated Buffalo State (1-16, 0-12) 4-2 on Friday evening. Freshman forward

Alex Quinn (Potsdam, N.Y./St. Lawrence Steel) each had a goal and an assist to lead the Bears. Senior forward
Catherine Proulx (Rockland, Ontario/Post University) and junior forward
Lyvia Chambers (Buffalo, N.Y./Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) also scored.
Potsdam opened the scoring just 7:10 into the first period. Castro scored her third goal of the season unassisted to make it 1-0. At 10:08, Vanessa Willick finally solved junior goalie
Hannah Barrett (Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) to tie the score. An interference penalty at 12:22 gave the Bears their first power play of the contest. Proulx struck at 13:35 with assists from sophomore forward
Rebecca Cain (Skaneateles, N.Y./Syracuse Valley Eagles) and Quinn. Potsdam led 2-1 after 20 minutes and Barrett had 10 saves.
Chambers made it a two-goal contest just 2:26 into the second period. The Bears outshot Buffalo State 9-5 in the middle stanza, but were unable to add to the lead despite two more power plays. It was 3-1 two periods into the contest.
The Bengals took advantage of a Potsdam penalty early in the third. The Bears were called for a trip just 30 seconds in. At the 1:00 mark, Emma Ramseier made it 3-2. The Bears got it back nearly 11 minutes later. A tripping penalty against Buffalo State put Potsdam back on the power play. Quinn finished a feed from Castro at 11:53 to make it 4-2. The Bears killed a final Bengals power play with under two minutes to go and closed out the win.
Barrett finished with 20 saves for her third win of the season and eighth of her career. Chelsea Kingston stopped 26 shots.
The Bears were 2-for-5 on the power play and the Bengals were 1-for-4.
The two teams go at it again tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
