SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT.—The SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (3-10) scored three times in the third period to defeat Saint Michael's College (7-8) 5-2 on Friday evening. Sophomore forward

Jakub Hall (Anchorage, Alaska/Richmond Generals) each recorded a goal and an assist for the Bears. Senior forward
Michael Olszewski (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Cobourg Cougars) and junior captain
Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./Utica Jr. Comets) also scored for Potsdam.
The first period was every evenly contested. The Bears were unable to capitalize on their first power play of the contest at 8:48. However, they made the most of their second nearly 10 minutes later. At 18:22, Parent struck on the man advantage for his second of the season. Senior forward

Mason Hoehn (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Richmond Generals) each picked up assists. Freshman goalie
Lenny Perno (Rochester, N.Y./Richmond Generals) stopped all eight shots that came his way in the opening 20 minutes to preserve the one-goal lead.
The momentum shifted quickly in the first three minutes of the second period. The Purple Knights got even 92 seconds into the middle stanza. Ty Bloom tied the game with an even-strength marker. Just 1:16 later, Nick Wracker put Saint Mike's up 2-1. Saint Mike's kept the momentum until they took a tripping penalty at 12:51. At the 13:34 mark, Doughart-Wood tied the game with assists from Loran and Hall. The Bears outshot the Knights 14-13 in the second and the score remained 2-2 heading into the intermission.
Potsdam took control in the third period. Olszewski struck for the eventual game-winner at 16:23. Freshman forward
Will O'Brien (Jefferson Hills, Pa./HC Rhode Island) and Parent each had assists. Saint Mike's pulled goalie Cole Manahan to try to even the score. However, Rose scored an empty-netter at 17:20 to make it 4-2. Manahan was pulled again with 1:04 left and again Potsdam made the Knights pay. Hall scored another empty-netter at 19:32 to close the scoring at 5-2
Perno finished with 26 saves for his second career win. Manahan stopped 30 shots.
The Bears were 2-for-5 on the power play and the Knights were 0-for-1.
