POTSDAM, N.Y.—Morrisville State (11-6, 3-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (8-5, 1-2) 3-1 on Friday night. The match was the team's first ever meeting as SUNYAC opponents.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears trailed 17-11 before a surge got them even in set one. A kill from graduate student middle hitter Lexi Price (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) made it 23-23 before the Mustangs rallied for the final two points and a 25-23 win.
- Potsdam took the second set 26-24 in a tight contest. Senior middle hitter Santara Hart (Meridian, Idaho/Meridian) had three kills during the set.
- Morrisville pulled away later in set three, but the Bears used a 6-0 run to tie the score at 24-24. However, the Mustangs answered with the final two points for the 26-24 win.
- After an even start, Morrisville used a 13-5 run to seize control of set four for a 25-16 win and a 3-1 match victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Senior captain Megan Henry (Candor, N.Y./Candor) led the Bears with 11 kills, 13 digs, five assists and an ace.
- Price finished with seven kills and four aces.
- Sophomore Emily Prest (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) also recorded seven kills to go with 16 digs.
- Senior opposite Alyssa Adams (Jamestown, N.Y./Randolph) had six kills and six digs.
- Sophomore setter Gabriella Luna (Schenectady, N.Y./Mekeel Christian Academy) added a career-high 19 assists along with four digs.
