POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (5-6-3, 1-4-1 SUNYAC) answered an early goal from Oswego State (7-2-4, 2-2-2) with one of their own to earn a 1-1 draw with the Lakers on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore forward Tajay Ellis (Queens, N.Y./High School for Law and Public Service) tipped a pass from junior midfielder Ethan Caruana (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) into the net at 16:44 for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Ian Husselbeck Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) picked up the second assist.
- Senior captain Zach Cunninham (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) buried a turnover forced by sophomore midfielder Jake Trubia (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) into the right corner of the net at 26:07 for the equalizer.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears outshot the Oswego 11-6, but the Lakers had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
- Graduate student goalie Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) made three saves.
- Freshman keeper Kyle Rose (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) made four saves for Oswego.
