FREDONIA, N.Y.—SUNY Fredonia (7-8-2, 2-5 SUNYAC) scored twice in the second half to complete its come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (5-7-3, 1-5-1) on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior captain Justin Mossey (Amity Harbor, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) opened the scoring at 24:40 with an assist from fellow senior captain Zach Cunningham (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East).
- Brian Taylor got the Blue Devils even at 32:21 and the score was tied at the half.
- Vincent DiBello netted the eventual game-winner just 42 seconds into the second half with an assist from Taylor.
- Ryan Ameis added an insurance marker at 51:48 with another helper from Taylor to close the scoring.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Fredonia edged the Bears in shots (14-13) and corner kicks (7-4).
- Graduate student goalie Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) made five saves for the Bears.
- Jack Phelan stopped two shots for Fredonia.
- The goal was Mossey's seventh of the season and 15th of his career giving him 34 career points (15g, 4a) and moving him into 11th place on the program's all-time scoring list. He needs three more points to crack the top-10.
- Cunningham's assist was the 17th of his career. He now has 29 career points (6a, 17a), placing him 17th on the program's all-time list.
