Bears blank Roos in first ever SUNYAC meeting, 1-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (5-5-2, 1-3 SUNYAC) scored midway through the first half and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over SUNY Canton (3-10-1, 0-4) on Wednesday night. The contest marked the first time the North Country rivals met as conference opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshman forward Logan Bush (Newcomb, N.Y./Newcomb) knocked a home cross from sophomore midfielder Luke Tytler (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) at the left post for the contest's only goal of the game at 18:30. The marker was the first of his collegiate career.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Graduate student goalie Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) finished with one save for his eighth career win and fifth career shutout.
  • Freshman keeper Nolan Sullivan (Harrisville, N.Y./Harrisville) made six stops for Canton.
  • Potsdam outshot the Kangaroos 27-2 and had an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
  • The Bears are now 14-0-1 in the all-time series with Canton dating back to 2007.
