Blue Devils edge Bears, 2-1

POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Fredonia (1-3) scored late in the third to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (3-2) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon and earn a weekend split.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshman forward Ryan Bailey (Anchorage, Alaska/Boston Junior Rangers) broke the scoreless stalemate with 13 seconds left in the second with a pass from sophomore forward Antoine St. Onge (Shawinagin, Quebec/Notre Dame Hounds) after breaking up a Bears breakout.
  • Junior forward Mason Hoehn (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Richmond Generals) knocked home a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Jakub Hall (Anchorage, Alaska/Richmond Generals) at 13:39 of the third period while on the power play. Junior forward Ryan Mahlmeister (Massapequa, N.Y./PAL Islanders) earned the second assist.
  • St. Onge answered just 3:20 later with an assist from Bailey off a faceoff.
  • The Bears pulled senior goalie John Werber (Skillman, N.J./Team Maryland) with 1:10 remaining, but couldn't find the equalizer.
     
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Bears outshot the Blue Devils 30-19.
  • Potsdam finished 1-for-5 on the power play and Fredonia went 0-for-2.
  • Werber stopped 17 shots for the Bears.
  • Freshman goalie Jameson Kaine (North Vancouver, British Columbia/Drumheller Dragons) stopped 29 shots for the win.
