Blue Devils top Bears, 2-0

FREDONIA, N.Y.—SUNY Fredonia (5-8, 3-3 SUNYAC) scored the game's only goals in the second period to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (4-8, 2-4) 2-0 on Saturday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The teams battled evenly in the first period, but there was no scoring.
  • The Blue Devils turned up the pressure in the second period and scored twice.
  • Fredonia got on the board at 13:16 with a power-play goal from Luke Morris. Ryan Bailey and Sam Schrenka had the assists.
  • Just 13 seconds later, Gavin Bloder made it 2-0 with assists from Dillon Schmidt and David Sudbrink.
  • The Bears pulled sophomore goalie Lenny Perno (Rochester, N.Y./Richmond Generals) for an extra attacker with 42 seconds left in the third, but couldn't crack Fredonia's defense.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Blue Devils outshot Potsdam 45-32.
  • Fredonia was 1-for-1 on the power play and the Bears were 0-for-2.
  • Perno finished with 43 saves.
  • Charles-Anthony Barbeau turned aside all 32 Potsdam chances for his second straight shutout.
