MORRISVILLE, N.Y.—Morrisville State (3-4, 1-1 SUNYAC) pulled ahead of the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (3-5, 0-2) late in a tight game and held on for a 49-45 victory on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior guard Barbara Bruno (Bronx, N.Y./Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology) scored the first four points of the game and the Bears led 9-8 after one quarter. Senior guard Carley Hill (Essex, Vt./Rice Memorial) also hit a three in the first 10 minutes.
- The second quarter was even lower scoring, but with similar results. The Bears scored eight of the final 10 points and led 17-15 at the half. Junior forward DaeLynn Alcock (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River) had four points in the second.
- The Mustangs outscored Potsdam 15-14 in the third quarter, but the Bears were still on top by a 31-30 score after 30 minutes. Bruno scored seven more points.
- Morrisville outscored the Bears 19-14 in the fourth quarter and used a late 5-0 push to clinch the victory. Senior guard Mikayla Shipley (North Chili, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) and senior forward Jenna Cotter (Johnson City, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) each had five points and Alcock added another four.

- The Mustangs outshot the Bears from the floor, 32.2-percent to 31.3.
- Potsdam controlled the glass by a 42-34 margin.
- Bruno led the Bears with 13 points and six rebounds.
- Shipley finished with 10 points, four boards and three assists.
- Alcock had eight points and seven rebounds.
- Anyssia Ingersoll paced Morrisville with 15 points, five boards and five steals.
