Wildcats outlast Bears, 3-1

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Wildcats (12-12, 3-1 NEVC) powered by the SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (10-12, 1-4 NEVC) 3-1 on Monday evening. Sophomore outside hitter Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) paced the Bears with 17 kills, 10 digs, two aces, and one block.

SUNY Poly took the first set 25-13 before Potsdam bounced back to win the second set 25-21. The Wildcats then finished the last two sets with 25-22 and 25-20 scores, respectively. Graduate student opposite Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) tallied 11 kills with three digs and junior middle hitter Matt Kilinski (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) posted 10 kills with an ace. Senior middle hitter Sean Murray (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) had six kills and three blocks while freshman outside hitter Darius Dorsey-Rhule (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) registered five kills and one block. Senior captain Michael Anderson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had 20 assists, two aces, and four digs. Freshman setter Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) tallied 19 assists to compliment his teammate. Senior libero Tom Shemik (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) finished the game with six digs to round out the leaders for Potsdam.

Jason Aubrey led the Wildcats with 16 kills, two aces, and five digs. James Mion registered 13 kills with six blocks. Jordan Weir and Peter Gottler each posted eight kills and Joshua Slater tallied 40 assists and five digs.

The Bears are back in action on Friday when they host Bard College for Senior Day at 5 p.m.
