Hawks ground Bears

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.—SUNY New Paltz (12-0, 4-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-5) 21-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Senior captain Lindsey LaDue (Massena, N.Y./Massena) scored twice for the Bears. Junior midfielder Tessa Pierce (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) had the other goal along with four draw controls. Graduate student attack Anita Reitano (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) had an assist, giving her 210 points for her career, eight shy of tying the program's scoring record. Sophomore goalie Jane Olszewski (Thornwood, N.Y../Westlake) allowed 13 goals and made a career-high nine saves in the first half. Sophomore Olivia Minarich (Albany, N.Y./Albany) stopped three shots and allowed three goals in a quarter. Freshman Allyson Bruns (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) allowed five goals and made a save in the other quarter.
 
Lexi Atwater led the Hawks with six goals, two assists, five ground balls and five draw controls. Ava Padilla had two goals and five assists and Mia Baldinger added three goals and three assists. Kaitlyn Shaw score three goals and assisted on one along with five draw controls and Morgan Atwater had another three goals. Gabriella Tommaso picked up the win after allowing a goal and making three saves in the first half. Mollie Harris didn't face a shot in 10:13 and Piper Mascaros allowed two goals and made a save.
 
The Bears are home on Saturday, when they host SUNY Geneseo at 11 a.m. on Senior Day.
