Knights upend Bears on Senior Day

POTSDAM,N.Y.—SUNY Geneseo (10-3, 5-1 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (3-7, 0-6) 21-4 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior captain Lindsey LaDue (Massena, N.Y./Massena) scored two goals and had an assist for the Bears along with six draw controls and five ground balls. Graduate student attack Anita Reitano (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) had two goals, giving her 212 career points, six shy of the scoring record. Junior midfielder Tessa Pierce (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs had seven draw controls. Graduate student midfielder Taylor Swamp (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) collected five ground balls and sophomore defender Auna Shadle (Massena, N.Y./Massena) caused three turnovers. Sophomore goalie Jane Olszewski (Thornwood, N.Y./Westlake) allowed 15 goals and made six saves in the first half. Sophomore Olivia Minarich (Albany, N.Y./Albany) made three saves and allowed six goals in the second half.
 
Junior attack Molly Brown (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) led the Knights with two goals and five assists for seven points to go with five draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Alaina Reina (Chili, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) had five goals and an assist for six points and senior midfielder Caitlyn Korzeniewski (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse Academy) and senior attack Rachel Dickinson each scored three goals. Senior attack Megan Cook (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) rounded out the leaders with a goal and two assists. Senior goalie Emily DeJohn (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) picked up the win with two saves and three goals allowed in the first half. Freshman Holly Indelicato (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) allowed a goal and made a save in the final 30 minutes.
 
Prior to the game the Bears honored seniors Swamp, Reitano, LaDue, Kalli Hewitt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Schuylerville), AnnaBelle Mitchell (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) and Abbigail Crahan (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh for their careers.
 
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday when they head down Route 11 to take on SUNY Canton at 7 p.m.
