CANTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (3-8) rallied multiple times before falling 15-11 to SUNY Canton (7-5) on Tuesday evening. Graduate student attack
Anita Reitano (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) led the Bears with four goals and two assists. The six points move her into a tie for the program's scoring record with Hall of Famer Carly Richards '12 with 218 points (136g-82a).
The Kangaroos opened the game with two goals. Samantha Dayter scored at 14:08 and 12:11. The Bears tied the game with two tallies in 32 seconds. Reitano got Potsdam on the board with a free-position goal at 9:09. She then set up junior midfielder
Tessa Pierce (Saratoga, N.Y./Saratoga) at 8:37. Canton answered with a 6-0 run, three coming as the first quarter wound down. Lindsey Wunder, Maddy Caron and Dayter scored in succession to make it 5-2 after 15 minutes.
Carron scored three in-a-row over in a 5:02 span and it was 8-2 at 8:22. Reitano netted her second at 6:09 and The Bears trailed 8-3 at the break.

Mallory Marks (Brownville, N.Y./General Brown). Pierce scored on a free-position at 6:06 to make it a 2-goal contest. Morgan Montgomery ended the Bears' 4-0 run with a goal at the 0:52 mark. Canton led 9-6 after three quarters.
Canton scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter. Dayter had the first two and Caron buried her fifth of the night to make it 12-6 at 10:39. Potsdam charged back. MacWilliams scored at 9:53. Reitano got her fourth at 8:12. She then set up LaDue's second of the night at 7:23. At 6:21, Reitano made it 12-10. The goal was the 218th point of her career, tying the program's scoring record. However, Canton countered a final time with three goals in 2:02 to build 15-10 advantage. Dayter sandwiched two more goals around a Sydney Dunn tally. Marks added a free-position score at 2:13, but the Bears ran out of time.
Sophomore goalie Olivia Minarch (Albany, N.Y./Albany) made nine saves for Potsdam. In addition to their two goals, Pierce and LaDue also had six and five draw controls respectively, to go with two caused turnovers apiece.
Dayter finished with a game-high nine points on seven goals and two assists. Caron had five goals. Olivia Scott earned the win in goal with six saves in goal.
The Bears are back in action on Thursday when they host Buffalo State at 2 p.m.
