BOSTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (15-12) took three matches from Fisher College (0-20) without losing a set on Friday night.
In the opener the Bears took the three sets from the Falcons by 25-10, 25-16 and 25-15 counts. Junior outside hitter
Matt Kilinski (Greensfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) led Potsdam with eight kills, five aces, three blocks and three digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) had seven kills, five aces and four digs. Senior middle hitter
Sean Murray (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) had four aces and a block. Graduate student
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) had 11 assists and freshman outside hitter
Calum Anderson (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) added seven assists and four digs. Senior captain
Michael Anderson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had six assists.
Owen Novelli led the Falcons with six kills. Eduardo Navarro recorded seven assists and three digs.
The Bears swept to 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22 victories in the middle contest. Senior outside hitter
Tom Shemik (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) had a career-high 12 kills along with four aces and eight digs to pace Potsdam. Tenhagen had another five kills, three aces and a block. Kilinski posted four kills and two blocks. Senior middle hitter
Cam McGarry (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) registered nine assists, while freshman outside hitter
Darius Dorsey-Rhule (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) had five assists and an ace. Freshman outside hitter
Dylan Murray (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) contributed five digs.
Ben Horton totaled seven kills and a block for the hosts. Novelli had four kills, seven digs, an ace and a block. Navarro totaled seven assists and Carlos Diaz finished with eight digs.
In the finale, the Bears took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-14. They trailed 17-8 in the third set, but rallied for a 27-25 win to complete the sweep. Shemik had nine kills in the third match. Freshman middle hitter
Jack Orrange (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) recorded five kills and 12 digs. Freshman setter
Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) had four kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Sean Murray picked up three aces and four assists. Anderson had 14 assists and four digs.
Dylan Murray finished with seven assists.
Novelli had four kills, eight digs and an ace for Fisher. Jeremy Blau had three kills, seven digs and a block. Ben Horton had three kills and two blocks. Diaz added six assists and Navarro wrapped up the night with eight digs.
The Bears close out the regular season tomorrow with two more matches with Fisher at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
