Saints edge Bears, 2-1

CANTON, N.Y.—St. Lawrence University (1-1) scored twice in the first half and held off the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (0-2) 2-1 in the second round of the North Country Classic on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grace Mochnal scored to just 2:34 into the contest to give SLU a 1-0 lead with an assist from Emma Casey.
  • Lilly Stone scored with a shot to the low left corner at 30:23 to make it 2-0.
  • Sophomore midfielder Samantha Parsons (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) scored her first collegiate goal at 56:44.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Sophomore Caroline Vines (Irondequoit, N.Y./Irondequoit) stopped 10 shots for the Bears in her first career start.
  • Darcie McDonough started for SLU and made one save in the first 45 minutes. Zoe Davenport allowed the goal while playing the second half.
