Bears tame Wolves on the road, 2-1

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (3-1-1) scored twice in the first half to defeat Keuka College (0-3) 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior captain Justin Mossey (Amity Harbor, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) netted his third goal just 5:20 into the contest, off a corner kick to put the Bears up 1-0. Sophomore Luke Tytler (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) assisted on the goal.
  • At 13:34, Potsdam misplayed a clear, which resulted in an own goal to tie the game.
  • Mossey struck again at 37:53 on a long pass from Tytler, depositing the ball inside the right post.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Bears dominated the contest, building a 20-3 advantage in shots. They had an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • Graduate student goalkeeper Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) made one save in the first half. Freshman James Kelm (Chester, N.Y./Chester Academy) didn't face a shot in the second half.
  • Wolves goalie Cory Cangemi made three saves in the game.
  • The Bears are now 3-2-3 in the all-time series dating back to 1995. Potsdam is 2-0-2 over the last four meetings.

Potsdam is back home on Saturday at noon when VSU Castleton comes to Maxcy Turf Field.
