HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore midfielder Jake Trubia (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) opened the scoring at 19:40 with an assist from freshman midfielder Cristiano Lozier (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) to make it 1-0 Bears.
- The Bengals were awarded a penalty kick at 24:00 and junior forward Diego Riviera (East Meadow, N.Y./Cairo Durham) made the most of it to tie the score.
- At 28:55, senior forward Adam Webster (York, England/Woldgate College) launched a shot into the upper left corner of the goal to give Buffalo State a 2-1 lead.
- Senior forward Nacho Caceres (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) put Buffalo State up 3-1 at 42:25 with a shot in the top right corner.
- Tiede got the Bears back within one with a goal at 49:28.
- At 82:18 Webster scored again with an assist from Rivera to give Buffalo State the insurance they'd need to hang on.
- Tiede countered a final time at 85:04 to make it a 4-3 contest. Senior captain Zach Cunningham (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) picked up the assist.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bengals outshot the Bears 21-7, but the corner kicks were even at 3-3.
- Bears goalkeeper Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) finished with four saves.
- Senior goalie Shae Wirt (Overland Park, Kansas/St. Thomas Aquinas) didn't make a save in his win.
