COBLESKILL, N.Y.—Smith College (5-0) swept the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (1-2) 3-0 on Friday night in the first round of the Cobleskill Homecoming Classic.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• A kill from senior outside hitter Megan Henry (Candor, N.Y./Candor) tied set one at five apiece, but the Smith finished on a 20-7 run to take set one 25-12.
• Set two was very similar. Junior setter Sophia Layer (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) picked up a kill to close the gap to 5-3, but this time the Pioneers ran a 20-9 stretch to win 25-12.
• In the third set, Smith opened up a sizable lead early and rolled to a 25-14 win to claim the match.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Henry finished with four kills and three digs.
• Senior opposite Alyssa Adams (Jamestown, N.Y./Randolph) added three kills and two blocks.
• Layer led the Bears with nine digs and four assists.

 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Bears face host SUNY Cobleskill at noon tomorrow and then wrap up the weekend against Elmira College at 2 p.m.
