POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (6-7, 3-3 SUNYAC) held off the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (6-7, 2-4) for a 58-50 victory on Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Lakers opened the contest on 13-3 run, before the Bears scored the last five points. Oswego led 13-8 after one quarter.
• Potsdam outscored Oswego 14-10 in the second 10 minutes and trailed just 23-22 at the half. Senior guard Barbara Bruno (Bronx, N.Y./Brooklyn High School for Law and Tech) scored six points in the quarter and senior forward Alivia Latham (Brooklyn, N.Y./William E. Grady) had four.
• The Lakers pulled away with a 21-10 third quarter and led 44-32 after 30 minutes. Senior forward Jenna Cotter (Johnson City, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) had five points and Bruno added three more.
• Potsdam made up some ground with an 18-14 fourth, but were unable to get closer. Bruno had nine more points and Cotter chipped in five.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Bears shot 32-percent from the floor and the Lakers were held to 30.0.
• Oswego outrebounded Potsdam 47-39.
• Bruno finished with 20 points and six rebounds.
• Cotter had 13 points and six boards.
• Junior forward Giavanna White-Principio (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) had a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Lakers.
