CANTON, N.Y.—Graduate student forward
Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, Quebec/St. Lawrence Steel) scored on a breakaway with 6:24 remaining to give the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (5-8-2. 1-7-2 SUNYAC) a 1-1 tie at SUNY Canton (5-11-1, 4-7-1) on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Riley Andzel gave the Kangaroos the lead at 6:46 of the first period.
- Canton had two power plays in the second period but wasn't able to add to their lead.
- The Bears outshot the Roos 10-8 in the third but had no luck until Garrow broke free.
- Potsdam tested Canton goalie Molly Lenihan four times in the overtime period, but wasn't able to net the game-winner.
- Canton won the exhibition shootout 2-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Potsdam outshot Canton 37-32.
- The Bears were 0-for-2 on the power play and the Roos went 0-for-3.
- Senior goalie Hannah Barrett (Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Jr. Eagles) made 31 saves for Potsdam.
