Mustangs strike late to defeat Bears, 1-0

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.—Morrisville State (7-10, 4-6 SUNYAC) scored with just 47 seconds on the clock to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (5-9-2, 1-8-2) 1-0 on Friday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears outshot the Mustangs 11-6 in the scoreless first period. Each team was 0-for-2 on the power play in the first 20 minutes.
  • Morrisville reversed the shots, 10-5, in the middle stanza, but the scoreboard stayed blank. Each team had two more unsuccessful power plays.
  • Allie Davidson finally broke the stalemate with just 47 seconds left in the third.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Morrisville outshot the Bears 21-18.
  • Both teams finished 0-for-5 on the power play.
  • Junior goalie Magalie Parent (Trois-Rivières, Quebec/Les Diablos – Cégep de Trois-Rivières) made 20 saves for Potsdam.
  • Sydney Canham turned aside all 18 Bear chances to earn the shutout.
  • Morrisville has won both meetings this season, taking a 2-1 victory in Potsdam on January 7.
