POTSDAM, N.Y.—Plattsburgh State (8-6-2, 5-1-2 SUNYAC) scored late to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (8-6-2, 2-5-1) 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals outshot the Bears 4-1 in the scoreless first half. Potsdam junior goalie Megan Fry (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and Plattsburgh sophomore goalie Desiree Dubois (Champlain, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) each had a save through 45 minutes.
- The teams traded strong opportunities later in the second half, but the keepers kept the contest even until the final 12 minutes.
- At 11:13, the Cardinals broke through on a shot from junior midfielder Sydney Myers (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Saranac). Senior midfielder Kelly Licata (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) and senior Claire Bottjer (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) each assisted on the goal.
