Bengals down Bears, 3-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Buffalo State (11-13, 4-3 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (8-14, 1-6) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Set one was tied 13 apiece but the Bengals closed out the 25-18 win with a 12-5 run. Freshman outside hitter Ashlee Hagerman (Kirkwood, N.Y./Windsor) had five kills for the Bears, while junior middle hitter Noelle Redeye (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Silver Creek) provided three and junior outside hitter Emily Prest (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) had two.
  • Buffalo State controlled set two wire to wire with a 25-14 win. Prest added two kills.
  • The Bears got within 23-22 in set four before falling 25-22. Prest and Hagerman each had four kills and Redeye chipped in three.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Prest finished with 10 kills, five digs and a block. Hagerman also had 10 kills to go with 10 digs. Redeye had seven kills and two blocks.
  • Senior captain Sophia Layer (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) contributed 28 assists and junior setter Rachel Madore (Peru, N.Y./Peru) had 12 digs.
  • Freshman middle hitter Logan Georgia (Owego, N.Y./Owego) posted four kills and two blocks.

The Bears head to SUNY Cortland next Friday for a 6 p.m. SUNYAC contest.
