Parent blanks Red Dragons in scoreless tie

CORTLAND, N.Y.— Senior captain Magalie Parent (Trois-Rivières, Quebec/Les Diablos – Cégep de Trois-Rivières) stopped all 34 shots she faced in a scoreless draw at SUNY Cortland (2-3-1, 1-1-1 SUNYAC) on Friday evening. Junior forward Jalynn Castro (Dexter, N.Y./Syracuse Valley Eagles) gave the Bears (3-3-1, 1-1-1) a shootout win for tie-breaking purposes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • There was no scoring in the first period. Parent made 11 saves in the first 20 minutes.
  • The second period was scoreless as well, with Parent stopping another 10 shots.
  • Another nine saves in the third from Parent forced the contest to overtime after neither team broke the stalemate in regulation.
  • Parent's four saves in overtime earned her the fifth shutout of her career and the second this season.
  • Castro scored on the first attempt of the shootout and Parent stonewalled the Red Dragons on their three attempts.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
