Jalynn Castro (Dexter, N.Y./Syracuse Valley Eagles) gave the Bears (3-3-1, 1-1-1) a shootout win for tie-breaking purposes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- There was no scoring in the first period. Parent made 11 saves in the first 20 minutes.
- The second period was scoreless as well, with Parent stopping another 10 shots.
- Another nine saves in the third from Parent forced the contest to overtime after neither team broke the stalemate in regulation.
- Parent's four saves in overtime earned her the fifth shutout of her career and the second this season.
- Castro scored on the first attempt of the shootout and Parent stonewalled the Red Dragons on their three attempts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Cortland goalkeeper Elines Gilodes was nearly as good, turning aside 18 Bears' attempts for her own shutout.
- Potsdam was 0-for-2 on the power play and the Red Dragons went 0-for-1.
