MORRISVILLE, N.Y.—SUNY Morrisville (1-6, 1-3 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (3-4-1, 1-2-1) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in a SUNYAC contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Morrisville scored twice in the opening period.
- Ava Waugaman opened the scoring at 6:07 with assists from Scarlett Smith and Katelyn Bovee.
- Zoe Leas made it 2-0 at 13:18 with a power-play goal. Madison Lawrence and Amelia Lomas each assisted on the goal.
- Leas added a second goal 1:53 into the third period to close the scoring. Tilly Couture and Nora Diana Egri picked up the assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Mustangs outshot the Bears 19-18.
- Morrisville was 1-for-3 on the power play and Potsdam was 0-for-3.
- Sophomore goalie Maddy Ferguson (Medicine Hat, Alberta/South Alberta Hockey Academy) made 16 stops for the Bears.
- Sydney Canham made 18 saves to earn the shutout for Morrisville.
