POTSDAM, N.Y.—Clarkson University (4-2) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-4) 63-46 on Tuesday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bears and Golden Knights battled to a 12-12 draw through the first quarter. Freshman guard Lucie Scarpine (Angola, N.Y./Lake Shore) scored eight points for Potsdam, including six on two threes. Senior forward DaeLynn Alcock (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River) had four points.
• It was all Clarkson in the second quarter, outscoring Potsdam 19-7 in the second quarter. Scarpine scored another six points and had 14 at the break.
• The Golden Knights continued to pull away with a 20-7 third quarter for a 51-26 lead. Freshman guard Oliva Cook (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had four points and Alcock hit a three.
• The Bears broke out with a 20-12 four quarter, but couldn't make up enough ground, falling 63-46. Junior guard Marygrace Guiney (Parishville, N.Y./Parishville-Hopkinton) hit three 3-pointers in the final 10 minutes and Alcock scored another five points.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Golden Knights shot 33.3-percent from the floor to the Bears' 30.6.
• Clarkson outrebounded Potsdam 53-34.
• Scarpine led the Bears with 15 points and two steals.
• Alcock finished with 13 points and Guiney with nine.
• Bella Doyle and Fallon Griffin led the Golden Knights with 18 and 15 points, respectively.
