Golden Flyers down Bears, 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Nazareth University (3-1) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (2-2) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Flyers took a 1-0 lead at 10:39 of the first period, while on the power play. Antoine Lucier scored with assists from Logan Tobias and Nate Mann.
  • Nazareth doubled the lead at 4:11 of the second period on a goal from Gabe Cull. Mark Meinecke had the assist.
  • The Flyers added a third goal at 9:10 of the middle stanza. Tobias scored with a helper from Blake Frost.
  • Junior Jakub Hall (Anchorage, Alaska/Richmond Generals) got the Bears on the board at 4:05 of the third period. Freshman forward Platon Krasnoiarov (Khabarovsk, Russia/New Hampshire Mountain Kings) and junior assistant captain Eli Doughart-Wood (St. Louis, Mo./Navan Grads) each assisted on the goal.  
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Nazareth outshot the Bears 32-29.
  • The Flyers were 1-for-3 on the power play and Potsdam was 0-for-2.
  • Sophomore goalie Luciano Chinappi (Hilton, N.Y./Boston Jr. Rangers) made 29 saves in his first career start for the Bears.
  • Nazareth goalie Mason Joseph stopped 28 shots to pick up the win.
