POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Cortland Red Dragons (16-3, 11-1 SUNYAC) overpowered the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (8-11, 4-8 SUNYAC) 74-44 on Saturday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Cortland used a 6-0 run to pull away for a 12-6 lead at the 5:13 mark and outscored Potsdam 18-10 in the first quarter
- The second quarter was tighter, with the Bears deficit just 10-9, but they trailed 28-19 at the half.
- The Red Dragons offense kicked into gear in the third quarter, outscoring Potsdam 24-15 and leading 52-34 after 30 minutes.
- Cortland continued to push in the final 10 minutes, scoring another 22 points to the Bears' 10 and closing out the 74-44 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Senior forward Jenna Cotter (Johnson City, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) led Potsdam with 18 points with seven rebounds.
- The Red Dragons shot 45.8-percent from the floor while holding the Bears to 37.8.
- Cortland edged Potsdam on the glass, 34-29.
- Sophomore guard Kayla Campbell (Franklin, N.Y./Franklin) led all scorers with 29 points for the Red Dragons, to go with five rebounds and three steals.
