ONEONTA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (9-11, 5-8 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons (10-11, 5-9 SUNYAC) 55-49 on Friday evening.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Bears started off the first quarter with hot shooting. Senior guard Carley Hill (Essex, Vt./Rice Memorial) hit two threes in the opening 10 minutes and Potsdam led 14-7.
- Oneonta then went on a six-point run early in the second to tie the game at 17-17.
- The Bears finished the half on a 9-3 run and led 26-20 at the break.
- The teams went back-and-forth in the third with the Bears leading 37-36 through 30 minutes.
- The Bears led by as many as six in the fourth quarter. The Red Dragons rallied to tie the score twice, but Potsdam went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the final seconds to win the contest 55-49.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Alcock totaled 15 points, five assists and five rebounds to lead the Bears.
- Senior forward Jenna Cotter (Johnson City, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) tallied 14 points for the Potsdam.
- Hill was perfect from the floor and free-throw line in the contest going 3-3 from three and 4-4 from the charity stripe to finish with 13 points.
- Amanda Zuntag had a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds for Oneonta.
