POTSDAM, N.Y.- The Potsdam men's basketball team (5-17, 5-10 SUNYAC) started strong and defeated the SUNY Canton Roos (3-19, 3-12 SUNYAC) 91-77 on Friday evening.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The teams battled for the lead in the first ten minutes of play, with the Bears leading 18-14 at the 10:24 mark.
- Potsdam was able to maintain the lead in the first with a score of 44-32 at half.
- The Bears had a 24-point lead at the 10:04 mark in the second half with a score of 74-50.
- Powerful defense and sold offense for the Bears solidified the victory, 91-77.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears had their biggest lead of the game, 79-54, at the 8:13 mark in the second.
- Sophomore guard Mohammed Sylla (Bronx, N.Y./Darrow) led all scorers with 25 points for Potsdam.
- Seniors Parker Kelly (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) (12), Walter DeFreitas (Brooklynn, N.Y./Xaverian) (14), and sophomore guard Nicolas Cortez (Harlem, N.Y./Harlem) (12) all tallied double digits for the Bears.
- Freshman guard Nate Cohen (Somers, N.Y./Somers) recorded 15 points and six rebounds for the Roos.
