Lakers swamp Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (15-8, 11-5 SUNYAC) used a big second half to overpower the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (5-18, 5-11 SUNYAC) 100-69 on Saturday afternoon.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Bears battled back-and-forth for the lead in the first ten minutes of play, with sophomore guard Mohammad Sylla (Bronx, N.Y./Darrow) draining a 3-point shot to put the team up 18-15 against the Lakers.
  • The Lakers found their flow late in the first, putting up 26-points on the Bears and taking a 41-29 lead at the half.
  • Oswego outscored the Bears 29-16 over the first 10 minutes of the second half to build a 70-45 lead and pull away.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Oswego shot a scorching 61.1-percent from the floor while holding Potsdam to 36.5.
  • Sylla finished with 20 points and four rebounds to lead the Bears.
  • Sophomore guard Nicolas Cortez (Harlem, N.Y./Harlem) acquired 15 points with three assists.
  • Gary McLane tallied 15 points to pace the Lakers.
  • Deacon Judd, Steven Bradley, Ahkee Anderson and Billy Reyes all recorded double digits for the Lakers.
