POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (9-13, 5-10 SUNYAC) started quickly against SUNY Canton (13-9, 8-7 SUNYAC), but the Kangaroos surged back for the 61-40.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Bears went on a 9-0 run early in the first to lead 13-6 at the end of the first.
- The Roos then tied up the game in the second quarter at the 7:52 mark with a score of 13-13.
- Accurate shooting allowed the hosts to outscore the visitors 25-9 in the second and take a 31-22 lead into the break.
- Both teams struggled to find the net in the third, with Canton scoring 10 points and Potsdam scoring six points. The Roos increased their lead to 41-28 through 30 minutes.
- Canton fired on all cylinders in the fourth, outscoring Potsdam 20-12 and sealing the 61-40 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears shot 36-percent and the Roos shot 37.1- from the field.
- Senior guard Barbara Bruno (Bronx, N.Y./Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
- Natalie Bartle finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for the Roos.
