POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (4-16, 4-9 SUNYAC) led early in the second half before falling to the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons (13-8, 8-6 SUNYAC) 78-62 on Friday night.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Back-to-back 3-pointers sparked the Red Dragons to an early 13-6 lead in the first half. They led by as much as 18-9 through the first eight minutes.
- A 3-pointer from sophomore guard Mohammed Sylla (Bronx, N.Y./Darrow) and a layup from sophomore guard Nicholas Cortez (Harlem, N.Y./La Salle Academy) gave the Bears the lead at the end of the first, 33-32, capping a 24-14 run.
- Cortez hit a three at 18:22 of the second half to extend the Bears' lead to 39-34.
- However, the Red Dragons responded with an 18-0 ending at the 11:24 mark, making it a 52-39 contest.
- The Bears were unable to close the gap for the rest of the contest, losing 78-62.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears shot 23-66 from the field, averaging 34.8-percent.
- Sylla finished with a double-double, posting 24 points and 12 rebounds.
- Cortez netted 15 points with four rebounds.
- Kobe Long totaled 25 points with four assists for the Red Dragons.
- Delano Knox also tallied a double-double for Oneonta with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
